With the enchanting look of a meadow wildflower, this unique upright bulb plant is sure to win a place in the hearts of gardeners everywhere. Camassia quamash is a real charmer with erect racemes of blooms in the most beautiful shade of lavender-blue we've seen in a long time. The carefree plant emerges in late spring to early summer, quickly and efficiently filling in the bare spaces left behind by the spring blooms that have already faded for the season. A favorite of butterflies and other beneficial pollinators, this camas is an excellent choice for any landscape. It is also a fantastic naturalizer that returns yearly with increased blooms and vigor.

Wonderful in mass, great in rain garden or winter wet area

Submitted 3 years ago

By DiaDiva

From Roseburg, Oregon

This is an amazing bulb. It tolerates being in water in the winter and bone dry in summer (foliage disappears in summer for me but we have dry summers and very wet winters here in the Pacific Northwest). My flowers are more indigo /purple rather than blue, but our soils are very acidic so that could be a factor. This naturalizes well but is not aggressive. It won't compete with other plantings but if nothing is there it will slowly move in. The blooms are large and happen during the in between time immediately after the spring rush finished but before the summer flush. It is probably my favorite bulb right now. I want hundreds.... literally. I'm adding some summer wildflowers with them this year and see how they do. Suspect fine as they go dormant for me around that time depending upon rainfall.

Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend to a friend

Absolutely one of my favorite late spring flowers. Blooms just after tulips and daffodils. Looks stunning paired with allium.

Q
Are your bulbs treated with neonocotinoids?
Asked by Holly
Verified Reply - AngelaThe EPA regulates the use of pesticides and our in house growers and those outside suppliers we use, operate off of these regulations. Currently the EPA is allowing the use of this class of chemical. Neonicitinoids are sold in mass at the retail level by big box stores. They are essentially being used everywhere. For the products we sell outside the organic label, we cannot control if they have been exposed to these pest control tools. Was this answer helpful to you
