Tulipa tarda

Tulipa tarda

88%
of respondents would recommend this to a friend
Early tulip variety adds plenty of cheer to rock gardens, borders and containers. An AGM winner, Tulipa tarda features star-shaped flowers with white edges and yellow centers. It's one of the best tulips for naturalizing. Plant these dainty garden gems once and they will come back year after year. Growing 4" tall, they're excellent for containers, too. Tulipa tarda blooms in early to mid spring and makes the biggest impact when grown in groups. For the best results, plant tulip bulbs in well-drained soil in full sun to partial shade.

These are absolutely my favorite tulip! Many blooms, even multiples from a single bulb. Over the years, I have learned to let these tulips go to seed, and they will multiply and spread on their own. No nurturing with fertilizer is necessary. I have hundreds of these around our property.

This is easily one of the most beautiful flowers I've ever had in my garden; the flowers are wonderfully bright and watching them open/close with the sun/clouds is delightful. They are a perfect border for taller plants or flowers, and bloomed for a long time here. I'm already looking forward to seeing them next spring!

Q
hi, are your species tulip bulbs treated with neonicotinoids? Thank you.
Asked by Becky
Verified Reply - AngelaThe EPA regulates the use of pesticides and our in house growers and those outside growers we use, operate off of these guidelines. Currently the EPA is allowing the use of this class of chemical. Neonicotinoids are sold in mass at the retail level by big box stores. They are essentially being used everywhere. For the products that we sell outside of the organic label, we cannot guarantee they have not been exposed to these pest control tools. Was this answer helpful to you
