I got 5 border mix dahlia mixes and the blooms were nasty. They were half open with a brown pedals on the outside. I did call and got a credit. It was a shame the person I talked to had no idea why the blooms were like that.

Easy to grow, and full of lovely blooms. My only critique is that I only received one color, but it's a lovely color!

Do not do well in zone 8B. Out of the 250 dahlia bulbs planted (Border Dahlias Mixed, Decorative Dahlia Heatwave, Boarder Decorative Dahlia Go Go Purple, Dark Leafed Sunshine Dahlia )in May, I only was able to harvest 60 flowers worth putting in an arrangement by October 20.

Bottom Line No, I would not recommend to a friend

Disappointed that only about half bloomed, and all were pink/white..... what mix? Blooms were nice, but not enough came out of the ground.

These grew well in our Wisconsin garden. Out of 10 bulbs we didn't get any orange or purple as shown. All were a light pink so not much variety.

Unfortunately the dahlias were not happy in my garden. They grew much taller than advertised and every flower bud turned brown so it never opened up. The foliage was nice and green but no flowers at all.

If planting these in containers, do the tubers still need to be planted 15" apart, or should they be closer together for a full look? They come 5 to a bag, so would that mean 5 separate 12" containers, or not?

Q
I Just Received Shipping Of Item 01288 Border Dahlias Mixed, Will like To Know When To Plant I'm At Zone 6-B. My Area Just Got Some Snow This Week Same Day I Received My Dahlias. If I Safely Store Them How Long Before Planting. THANK YOU
Asked by Felix
Verified Reply - AngelaThe Border Dahlias should not be planted outside until the soil temperature has reached about 55 degrees F. You can store the tubers in a cool dark place until planting. An unheated garage or basement works well. You can also start them growing in pots in the house and transplant out to the garden when it's warm enough. Was this answer helpful to you
