Growing Tips

  • Planting Instructions:

Plant at the same level as the soil so the crown of the plant is even with the soil level. Don't bury the crown. Full sun is best for quicker flowering and higher quality plants.
  • Soil Moisture:

    Well drained, humus enriched soil.
  • Pruning Instructions:

Prune to maintain shape and increase branching once established. Remove any dead or damaged branches. After flowering
  • Winter Care:

Mulch heavily around the base of the plant. Remove promptly in early spring.
  • Watering Requirements:

Roses prefer a thorough watering but do not like 'wet feet'. Water early in the day to avoid wet conditions into the night which can cause issues with fungus and disease.

Q
Can this tree live in a pot? And if so what size do you recommend? I have a brick patio with a hole in it where a Japanese maple was. I am not sure if I want to try planting in that hole because of roots.
Asked by Shannon the newbie
Verified Reply - AngelaThe Tree Rose can be grown in a pot. You will want a container that is 16 to 18 inches diameter with a similar depth. It looks like you are gardening in zone 6. You may want to move the dormant plant into an unheated garage or basement for winter. Potted plants don't have the same root insulation as those planted in the ground. If planted in your patio hole, you would not need any special winter care. Was this answer helpful to you
Q
How big a container d9 I need for free rose I live in Bend oregon 97702 area code. Does it get too co,ld here
Asked by Tui
Verified Reply - AngelaYou can use a container that is 16 to 18 inches diameter or larger. You will want the depth of the pot to be at least 15 inches and deeper is better. You may want to move your tree rose into an unheated garage or basement for winter in zone 6. Just wait until it has gone completely dormant. Just water about once a month to keep the soil from drying out completely. If that isn't possible, move the pot close to the house and provide extra insulation for the roots by covering the pot in straw or dry leaves. Was this answer helpful to you
