How To Plant Perennial Phlox Flowers
Plant your phlox roots in humus-enriched, moist, well-drained soil in full sun to partial shade, spacing the root 24" apart. In spring, thin new shoots to 4-6 stems. Deadhead the flowers to keep the plant vigorous. Water deeply during periods of drought. Avoid wetting the foliage since phlox plants can be susceptible to powdery mildew. Divide your phlox plants every 2-3 years in early fall. Replant only small, strong outer divisions. Phlox flowers will grow 36- 60" tall and bloom in June-September, depending on the variety.
