Louisiana Irises are ideal for planting along the edge of streams or ponds, or in other moist areas. Unlike bearded iris, they prefer moist conditions and usually do best with about an inch of water each week.Louisiana Irises require normal to moist soil and benefit from a yearly gift of fertilizer. They are native to the southeastern part of the country and are best grown in full sun to part shade. In the past, it was believed they would only grow well in acidic soil, but they do equally well under slightly basic conditions.
