    Funnel-shaped, mostly white (sometimes lilac tinged at the base) flowers appear in racemes slightly above the foliage atop upright leafy scapes rising to 36" tall

    hick, puckered, cupped, wide-oval leaves (to 14" long and 12" wide) have distinctive veining, cuspidate tips and cordate lobes.

Growing Tips

  • Planting Instructions:

    Soak roots in cold to lukewarm water for about 30 minutes. Dig a hole large enough to accommodate the roots without bending them. Firm soil around roots and water in well.
  • Soil Moisture:

    Tolerant of a wide range of soils, but best in well drained.
  • Will Tolerate:

    Acidic Soil, Clay Soil, Loamy Soil, Sandy Soil
  • Pruning Instructions:

    Remove spent flower stems to tidy up the plants for the rest of the growing season.
  • Winter Care:

    Mulch +/- 2" for the first winter. Remove promptly in early spring.
  • Planting Depth:

    Top of the root (eyes) should be just below soil level.
  • Watering Requirements:

    Average water needs. Water regularly, do not overwater
  • Fertilization Requirements:

    Once per year

We take advanced orders, and as the crops are harvested, our staff of K. van Bourgondien experts makes an on-the-spot selection of the finest bulbs available to fill those reservations.

Planted three Seboldiana hostas and all three had begun to leaf out in about 10days. Very pleased since they arrived somewhat dry in a bag bare root.

Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend to a friend

From Northeast

Not one has broken ground yet. Meanwhile all my other hosta plants are growing like crazy. Very disappointed in these bulbs.

I live in the hudson valley of New york. The temps are dipping below 32 at night but going up to about 50 during the day. Can I still plant my hosta bulbs? Thanks, MIke

Verified Reply - AngelaAbsolutely. Please go ahead and plant your Hostas. They will work on establishing a root system until the ground freezes. You can expect to see new top growth in the spring. Was this answer helpful to you

None of my bulbs show any signs of emerging through the soil. No fingers or eyes. I live in zone 7 and planted them last September. When should I start to see them?

Verified Reply - AngelaI am waiting for Hostas in zone 6 as well. They are slow to emerge the first year planted. Please allow them a few more weeks. Contact Customer Care if you don't see any growth by the middle or end of May. Was this answer helpful to you
